Wafles with European canned peaches


For the waffles:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the caramelized peaches:

  • 1 can (15 ounces) European canned peaches, drained and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Maple syrup, for serving



  1. Preheat the Waffle Iron:

    • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Prepare the Waffle Batter:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  3. Cook the Waffles:

    • Pour the waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using the recommended amount for your specific waffle iron model. Close the lid and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  4. Caramelize the Peaches:

    • While the waffles are cooking, prepare the European caramelized canned  peaches. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the drained and sliced European canned peaches to the skillet, along with the brown sugar and ground cinnamon if using. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the peaches are caramelized and softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Assemble and Serve:

    • Place a cooked waffle on a serving plate and top with a generous spoonful of caramelized peaches.
    • Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious combination of fluffy waffles and caramelized peaches.
